Find out your BMI in 1 minute

For adults, a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 sits in the healthy range. Type in your height and weight to see your figure placed on the World Health Organization scale, along with what it actually tells you.

Work out your BMI

Everything is worked out on your own device. No data is stored or transmitted. Adults only.

What is the BMI chart?

World Health Organization reference chart, adults
  1. Under 18.5Underweight
  2. 18.5 to 24.9Healthy weight range
  3. 25 to 29.9Overweight
  4. 30 and overObesity

To work out BMI, or body mass index, take weight in kilograms and divide it by height in metres squared.

Example. Someone 1.65 m tall weighing 72 has a BMI of 72 divided by 1.65 squared, so 26.4.

Where it falls short. BMI cannot separate fat from muscle. It gives a misleading picture for sporty people, for those over 65 and during pregnancy.
